9570 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Associate Minister of Police: In response to Reply 1605 (2024); What does “constabulary independence and allowing police to determine how best they can reduce the incidence and impacts of crime and maintain peace” look like to her?
Hon Casey Costello: Police are at the frontline day-in and day-out. They know their communities. Having the independence to make decisions based on what they believe will work in their communities is critical for delivering a safer New Zealand.
