9554 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Transport: What legal proceedings, if any, are currently being defended by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible where the total claimed or estimated liability exceeds $1 million, listed by department or entity, the nature of the proceedings, the approximate value of the claim, and the current status?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the Ministry of Transport is not currently defending any legal proceedings where the total claimed or estimated liability exceeds $1 million. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) has one active legal proceeding involving Huapai Properties that is currently before the Environment Court. NZTA is unable to disclose the specific value of the claim as it is still subject to confirmation and Crown negotiation.
