9509 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Energy: What property leases, if any, have been entered into, renewed, or exited by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, address, annual rent, lease term, and whether the decision to enter, renew, or exit was part of a broader office consolidation programme?
Hon Simon Watts: Electricity Authority:
The Authority has entered into one lease in this period. On 11 March 2026, the Authority agreed to lease an additional half floor in the Aon Centre, adding to the floor it has already has in the same building under an existing lease. The details are:
Address of lease: Level 2 (half floor), Aon Centre, 1 Willis Street, Wellington
Annual rent: $239,700 plus GST per annum plus a 2.28% share of the building’s operating costs, both subject to annual adjustment
Lease term: 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031, with a break option on 31 March 2029
The decision to enter the lease was not part of a broader office consolidation programme. It was a one-off decision made due to increases in staff numbers in recent years, beyond the capacity for the single floor already leased.
