Camilla Belich to the Prime Minister: What property leases, if any, have been entered into, renewed, or exited by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, address, annual rent, lease term, and whether the decision to enter, renew, or exit was part of a broader office consolidation programme?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the responsible minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is a departmental agency hosted by DPMC until 25 September 2025. The Cyclone Recovery Chief Executive was a functional Chief Executive appointed under the Public Service Act 2020 in March 2023 and disestablished with effect from 1 July 2025.
Details relating to floor space leased for DPMC and NEMA for the 2023/24 and the previous four financial years is set out in Question 19: Floor Space of the DPMC and NEMA 2023/24 Annual Review: https://www3.parliament.nz/resource/en-NZ/54SCGOA_EVI_6e98c62c-f3ab-41ab-b3eb-08dd0731b318_GOA31350/29a2602168d83d200fc4ad36c9a39f772a1a1061
As at 30 June 2025, neither DPMC nor NEMA have entered into any new lease agreements for floor space.
