Camilla Belich to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What hui, conferences, away-days, or staff events, if any, costing more than $10,000 in total have been held by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, event name or purpose, date, location, number of attendees, and total cost?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that the annual cost for all Ministry forums over the past five years is reported at Question 78 in the Ministry’s 2025/26 Estimates Examination for Vote Social Development, which can be found here: https://www3.parliament.nz/resource/en-NZ/54SCSSC_EVI_133cfa99-f011-4cf7-cdcd-08dd9cbad1c0_SSC20954/c3372d45f59d05e2a9027ec392a81070bb6fd20f I am further advised that the Ministry is unable to break this down any further within a written parliamentary question timeframe as it would take substantial effort and require the Ministry to divert personnel from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense, of answering these questions within this timeframe, is not in the public interest.
