9392 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: On how many shifts, if any, since 1 April 2024 to 30 April 2024 (both dates inclusive) did each facility operate with staffing levels below that rostered?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that prison facilities may operate with staffing levels that are different to the planned roster for various reasons such as unplanned staff absences, and staff accompanying prisoners for a hospital escort. Staff safety plans are developed daily to ensure safe staffing levels are maintained. I am further advised that Corrections would be required to review the rosters for each prison which would involve substantial collation and manual analysis as this information is not centrally recorded. I am not prepared to ask my officials to carry out this task for the purposes of this response.
