9352 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: What impact on the court system does he expect to see with the removal of funding for reports under s 27 of the Sentencing Act and when does he expect to see the impact?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: Removing legal aid funding for reports under section 27 of the Sentencing Act is expected to produce savings which can be used to support victims of crime. The Ministry of Justice is monitoring the impacts of the funding change over the coming months and will advise me in due course.
