9336 (2024). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What advice, if any, has the Minister received about the new updates to the New Zealand Passport System?

Hon Brooke van Velden: In December 2023, I was advised by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) that it was working to update the New Zealand passport system. I have been advised the benefits of the upgrade include the ability to make online group applications, passport tracking, and a more seamless identity referee/witness portal. The Department is providing daily and weekly updates on the number of passport applications and passport timeframes, and the actions they are taking to reduce passport processing times.
