9317 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Education
Written Question
Published date: 02 Apr 2026
9317 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Education: What technology or software systems, if any, used by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible have been identified as end-of-life, unsupported, or requiring urgent replacement since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, system name, purpose, and estimated replacement cost?
Hon Erica Stanford: The information sought by the Member is not held centrally or collated by the Ministry of Education in a way that is readily reportable in the timeframe available to respond to written parliamentary questions.
I am advised that the New Zealand Qualifications Authority has identified the following systems as needing replacement:
• Windows 10: Updates were made through an in-house process to upgrade devices to Windows 11 in November 2025. No additional costs were undertaken or incurred.
• eQA: Underpins and tightly integrates multiple core applications. A detailed business case was approved by Cabinet in November 2025 to replace this.
I am advised that Education New Zealand and the Education Review Office have not had any technology or software systems identified as end-of-life, unsupported, or requiring urgent replacement since 27 November 2023.
