9301 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections: What hui, conferences, away-days, or staff events, if any, costing more than $10,000 in total have been held by any department or entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, listed by department or entity, event name or purpose, date, location, number of attendees, and total cost?
Hon Mark Mitchell: Corrected reply: As one of New Zealand’s largest public service departments, Corrections are responsible for managing more than 11,000 prisoners and around 25,000 people in the community. They employ approximately 11,000 staff, with the vast majority working on the frontline. They deliver rehabilitation programmes, employment and training, health services, mental health and addiction support and accommodation and reintegration services to people in prison and the community. Corrections manages 17 prisons and a significant number of Community Corrections sites across the country. I refer the member to the attached table, which details hui, conferences, away-days, and staff events costing more than $10,000 since 27 November 2023, broken down by date, event name and purpose, number of attendees, venue, and total cost.
