9285 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Regulation: What functions, if any, have been transferred from other government departments, if any, to the Ministry for Regulation, since its establishment?

Hon David Seymour: Officials advise the following functions that were previously undertaken by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and the Treasury have been transferred to the Ministry for Regulation: Strategic co-ordination and oversight of the Regulatory Management System, including advising on strengthening the Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) system; Provision of guidance and support to agencies to help them improve their regulatory stewardship capability; Administration of the RIA requirements for regulatory proposals; Advising/delivering on New Zealand’s international good regulatory practice obligations; Administration and stewardship of the Regulatory Standards Bill once enacted; Administration and support of the cross-government regulatory practice initiative (G-REG) initiative.
