9266 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Health: How much has Te Whatu Ora saved since 27 November 2023 by not fulfilling vacancies across New Zealand?

Hon Simeon Brown: The Government is strengthening frontline health services by addressing the substantial growth of bureaucracy in recent years. I am advised that between November 2023 and June 2024, Health New Zealand achieved $109 million in net savings in budgeted personnel costs. I am further advised that from July 2024 to January 2025, Health New Zealand achieved a further $52 million in personnel cost savings. This aligns with the Government’s commitment to focusing savings on reducing bureaucracy, while continuing to put patients first.
