9257 (2025). Lan Pham to the Minister of Local Government: How many, if any, breaches of the Maximum Acceptable Value of e.coli in drinking water were found in 2024?

Hon Simon Watts: The Water Services Authority – Taumata Arowai was notified, by accredited drinking water laboratories, of 358 exceedances of the MAV for E. coli in drinking water supplies in 2024. When notifications of E.coli exceedances are received from registered drinking water supplies, the Authority requires the supplier to issues a ‘boil water’ notice to consumers.
