9114 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: When, if ever, were physical employment standards for firefighting recruitment processes last formally validated against the current operational requirements of the firefighter role?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised the physical requirements underpinning firefighter recruitment were last formally validated in 2009, through the Validation of the Firefighter Recruitment and Selection Programme undertaken prior to the establishment of Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
