9041 (2026). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Will Kaupapa Māori and Maori-Medium kura be expected to adopt the Education Review Office’s new school performance reporting system; if so, how, if at all, will the new system be tailored to these types of kura?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that Kura Kaupapa Māori and Māori-medium settings are reviewed by the Education Review Office’s specialist Māori Review Services team, Te Uepū ā-Motu. This team continues to use a tailored review framework that aligns with ERO’s wider evaluative approach and has been developed in partnership with Kaupapa Māori representative bodies, including Te Rūnanga Nui o ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa and Ngā Kura ā Iwi o Aotearoa.
