Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Regional Development: How does the Minister reconcile, if at all, the allocation of an $80 million fund to support extractive industries with the Crown's obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi to actively protect taonga, including coastal ecosystems and customary fisheries?

Hon Shane Jones: Investments made through the Regional Infrastructure Fund’s $80 million critical minerals allocation are subject to the same statutory and regulatory requirements as all extractive and mining activities, including the Crown’s obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
