Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Finance: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what demographic data is being collected about the number of staff being made redundant, if any?

Hon Nicola Willis: I am advised that these decisions are the responsibility of the relevant Chief Executive. Furthermore, I am aware that The Treasury has publicly confirmed they are currently working toward a reduction of approximately 50 roles through attrition, the ending of fixed term roles and closing of vacancies. There are no processes for redundancies underway. For RBNZ I refer the member to my answer to Written Question 4075.
