Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Customs: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what demographic data is being collected about the number of staff being made redundant, if any?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) collects and holds a range of demographic data relating to its employees, including gender and ethnicity, where the staff member has provided that information. Customs is not collecting any new or updated demographic data about those staff members who have accepted voluntary redundancy or enhanced early retirement.
