8950 (2024). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery: Is the Minister confident, as per the Report of the Government Inquiry into the Response to the North Island Severe Weather Events, that the National Emergency Management Agency can ‘establish at least three full-time Emergency Management Assistance Teams (EMAT), that can be deployed to emergencies or to build wider sector capability,’ if so, how can that be achieved, considering that department’s efforts to identify and develop ‘credible savings options’ will draw from existing resources, which are currently less than those recommended in the report?
