Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Agriculture: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, what demographic data is being collected about the number of staff being made redundant, if any?

Hon Todd McClay: The Ministry for Primary Industries’ (MPI) cost savings work will include a mix of programme reductions and staffing proposals. MPI has completed consultation with staff on change proposals and feedback is being taken into account in determining final decisions. No final decisions have been made. Information on which staff will be impacted by the change will not be known until the changes are implemented, which is not expected to occur until 1 July 2024.
