8909 (2024). Steve Abel to the Associate Minister of Agriculture: What monitoring and reporting, if any, will be required to ensure adverse animal welfare outcomes are avoided with regards to winter grazing?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that Ministry for Primary Industries Southern Compliance and Response teams are planning an inter-regional response for intensive winter grazing this year. Staff will be participating in flights over Southland in early winter, targeting problem grazing properties and visiting some that were identified from the air late last winter.
