8873 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Vocational Education: How much, if anything, will it cost to replicate Te Pukenga's digital transformation within individual Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Te Pūkenga’s proposed digital transformation was focused on the centralisation and integration of systems as it moved towards becoming one entity. Given the Government is disestablishing Te Pūkenga and re-establishing separate, individual entities, much of this work will not need to be undertaken. However, it is acknowledged that there is a range of digital projects that need to be undertaken across the sector to address known issues. This has been factored into each individual Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) capital intention plans and is being considered as part of the viability of establishing new ITPs. Negotiations will need to occur with vendors at the appropriate time, managed by the individual entities as they are established.
