8858 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for State Owned Enterprises: What consultation process did NZ Post undertake with (a) retail partners, (b) local communities, and (c) local authorities before finalising the list of 142 service counters to be closed?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that NZ Post engaged with their retail partners as part of planning these changes. In addition, NZ Post analysed detailed customer patterns, drive time data and retail network data to understand how people are using NZ Post services, especially the growth in parcel sending and collection.
