Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: How do officials track the employment outcomes of all overseas-trained doctors who immigrate to New Zealand, if at all, and what data, if any, shows the extent to which these doctors remain underemployed or drop out of the registration process?

Hon Simeon Brown: Our Government is focused on delivering timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders. I am advised that Health New Zealand collects information on overseas-trained doctors who have expressed an interest and sought employment at Health New Zealand. I am further advised that information on overseas-trained doctors employed at non-Health New Zealand services is not centrally recorded.
