8849 (2024). Steve Abel to the Associate Minister of Agriculture: What specific criteria would ships that meet the 'Gold Standard' have to meet, in regards to live animal export ships?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: The ‘Gold Standard’ is an industry-led standard. The details are on LENZ’s website at https://www.livestockexports.nz/. The Government has committed to reinstate the export of livestock by sea with the highest of welfare standards. Any proposed changes which relate to specific criteria for the livestock vessels used for export will be consulted upon as part of the policy development process.
