8829 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to Reply 7172 (2026), what is the outcome for the individuals who were granted extensions through to 28 February 2026 to evidence their ability to drive safely on New Zealand roads; how many completed testing, how many had their licences cancelled, and how many remain current?
Hon Chris Bishop: NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) advises me that 37 individuals were granted extensions in total. Of these 37:
• 12 passed tests to obtain a class 5 Full licence
• 1 passed the test to obtain a class 4 Full licence
• 7 passed tests to obtain a class 2 Full licence
• 13 passed tests to obtain a class 1 Full licence
• 5 had their licence cancelled due to failed tests.
Please note that the outcomes for those provided extensions to the testing date through to 28 February are included in all total numbers.
