8828 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport

8828 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to Reply 7172 (2026), were the employers of individuals holding fraudulently converted Class 2, 4, or 5 licences notified of the fraudulent status of those licences; if so, when were those notifications made; and if not, why not?
Hon Chris Bishop: NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) advises me that employers who have Transport Organisation Register Online (TORO) or Driver Check accounts, and have the permission of their employees to check and track any changes to their driver licence would have either received notifications or been able to check the status of their licences (including the temporary suspension of driving commercially) in these systems. Outside of this, NZTA does not have the ability to share private data with employers. I am advised NZTA communicated with the main industry bodies to ensure they were aware of its actions.
