8822 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What measures, if any, is he implementing to prevent potential over-reliance on the 24/7 digital service at the expense of in-person general practice appointments?
Hon Simeon Brown: Our Government is focused on delivering timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders. As the Member will be aware, the 24/7 digital health service I have announced will provide all New Zealanders better access to video consultations with New Zealand-registered clinicians, such as GPs and nurse practitioners. This service increases choice for patients by offering more flexible healthcare options. It is specifically intended for those who cannot get timely access to their regular GP or who are not enrolled with a primary care service. To prevent over-reliance on the digital service, it is designed to complement in-person general practice appointments.
