8800 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Police: What process (if any) exists for a person to get their name removed from the gang register held by the Gang Harm Insights Centre referred to in WPQ 4040 (2024)?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that individuals are deemed either a patched or prospect gang member following a validation process carried out by police districts and national intelligence staff. To validate membership, there must be supporting evidence, which could come from: • Intelligence from operations and search warrants. • An ‘intelligence noting’ identifying an individual wearing a patch. • Visible evidence of members wearing a patch. • Certain prominent or significant gang ‘patch’ tattoos. If information is received which indicates the individual no longer meets the above criteria, they will no longer be validated as a patched or prospect member.
