8702 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (October – December 2023) toward the objective ‘Increase knowledge and awareness in health care providers of hepatitis C services’ under ‘Focus area 1: Awareness and understanding’ in the National Hepatitis C Action Plan?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October – December 2023 quarter, regional hepatitis C services continued to deliver a range of education sessions and medical education (CME) events, including to primary care, Corrections staff, Probation staff, and providers who work with high priority populations. I am further advised that during the quarter a hepatitis C education session was presented at the Wellington GP Conference; harm reduction services were supported at the Cutting Edge Conference; a South Island nurses meeting was held to promote partnership across the Sexually Transmitted and Blood Bourne Infections programme, and a Hepatology Nurses meeting was held in Rotorua.
