8684 (2025). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: How many more or fewer victims of violent crime are there over the year ending October 2024, compared to June 2024 using the measures of the government's target for the reduction of violent crime?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that according to the New Zealand Crime and Victim Survey (the Government’s measure for the violent crime target), there were 191,000 victims of violent crime in the 12 months to October 2024. This is 24,000 fewer victims compared to the 12 months to June 2024, when there were 215,000 victims of violent crime.
