8602 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (September – December 2023) has been made toward actioning ‘New and innovative technologies and service delivery methods’ under Focus area 2: Combination prevention and health promotion actions as recommended in the National HIV Action Plan?
Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that during the October – December 2023 quarter, progress was made in implementing the HIV Action Plan. This included HIV service providers using innovative testing approaches with priority populations; developing pathways of care, and online options to improve access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). I am further advised that HIV service providers took a collaborative approach to increasing access to testing in rural populations. This includes the kaupapa Māori provider Toitū te Ao engaging with Māori communities in rural settings.
