Hon Shane Jones: New Zealand has well established contingency arrangements to manage significant fuel supply disruptions. The National Fuel Plan sets out how government agencies and the fuel sector coordinate their response if fuel imports are significantly reduced. This includes oversight by the Fuel Sector Coordinating Entity, chaired by MBIE, which works with industry and emergency management agencies to maintain supply, prioritise essential services, and manage distribution during a disruption. These arrangements are regularly reviewed and provide a structured framework to respond to both domestic and international fuel supply shocks.
