8549 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (October – December 2023) to ‘Establish national health and disability data and information implementation group’ under ‘Horizon One’ of the Data and Information Strategy for Health and Disability: Roadmap 2021-2024?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that Health New Zealand's Data Services function was established during the October - December 2023 quarter, and it is currently establishing a National Data Platform. This a five-year programme which will unify data from the districts and wider sector including disability data. I am further advised the Data and Information Strategy for Health and Disability was developed by the Ministry of Health and pre-dates the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act and the formation of Health NZ. During the quarter, progress on aspects of the current Strategy and roadmap continued, led by Health New Zealand, and will be reviewed within the context of the New Zealand Health Plan when published in 2024.
