8524 (2026). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister of Defence: What is the estimated cost to date of New Zealand Defence Force deployments in the Middle East / Gulf region during the current period of hostilities involving Iran?

Hon Judith Collins: The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) contributes to a number of missions across the Middle East Region as detailed publicly: https://www.nzdf.mil.nz/nzdf/operations-and-engagements/. The costs of these missions are met from existing NZDF baseline funding. The cost of the NZDF deployment in support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade consular operations is approximately $860,000.
