8494 (2026). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister for National Security and Intelligence: Has the Government received intelligence assessments from New Zealand agencies regarding the likelihood of regional escalation or threats to New Zealand interests arising from the conflict involving Iran?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Minister for National Security and Intelligence, I regularly request and receive advice from officials on a range of matters relating to my National Security and Intelligence portfolio, including from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). I have received a variety of different types of advice and information from DPMC officials on a range of issues relating to the US-Israeli strikes on Iran since they began including protecting New Zealand’s interests as this conflict unfolds. I will not comment further on intelligence matters.
