8458 (2024). Kahurangi Carter to the Minister for Children: Can the Minister guarantee that the Tamariki Māori will not be negatively impacted by the proposed removal of section 7AA?

Hon Karen Chhour: I consider that the repeal of section 7AA will reinforce that the wellbeing and best interests of children and young people are at the forefront of decision making and will help ensure that practice decisions appropriately consider the safety and stability of the child or young person. Disparities and disproportionality for tamariki Māori will still be monitored.
