8439 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for State Owned Enterprises: Further to WPQ 124 (2024), following the Government’s decision regarding the Inter-Island Resilient Connection project as announced by the Minister of Finance on 11 December 2023, can the cost to taxpayers, if any, for residual contractual obligations between KiwiRail and international contractors now be quantified?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: KiwiRail is still in the process of negotiating with international suppliers, and so it is not in the public interest, or possible, to quantify any costs at this time.
