Arena Williams to the Minister of Transport: Further to WPQ 126 (2024), following the Government’s decision regarding the Inter-Island Resilient Connection project as announced by the Minister of Finance on 11 December 2023, what is the deadline, if any, of the Ministry of Transport’s assessment of the long-term requirements for a resilient connection across Cook Strait to connect people and enable freight?

Hon Simeon Brown: The Ministry of Transport is preparing advice by the end of May 2024 on the broader settings for a long term resilient Cook Strait connection. Its advice exploring the potential options for an ongoing resilient connection is expected by the end of July 2024.
