Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Further to WPQ 29203 (2023), has the Minister now received advice on "options to strengthen the powers of the Grocery Commissioner, to improve competitiveness, and to address the lack of a third entrant to remove the market power of a duopoly," as outlined in the National Party and New Zealand First coalition agreement, and if so, what advice, reports, briefings, aides-memoire, or any other documents has the Minister, or any member of their Office received on this, by title and date?

Hon Andrew Bayly: Yes. I received a briefing titled "Options for improving competition in the grocery sector" on 18 December 2023. Some other briefing titles have been withheld as they are either sensitive in nature or still under active consideration.
