8416 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister for State Owned Enterprises: Has the Minster issued strategic guidance or given any other written or oral direction to New Zealand Post, if any, requiring that courier contractors deliver all mail and parcels?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I have not issued any directions to NZ Post. Under the State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986, shareholding Ministers do not have the ability to issue directions on operational matters such as the use of courier contractors. I have written a letter of expectations to NZ Post; this will be proactively released.
