Camilla Belich to the Minister for Māori Development: Further to his reply to WPQ 3022 (2026), what was the number of recorded incidences of sexual harassment, if any, in each calendar year since 2015 in respect of all staff, employees, secondees, contractors, or office holders employed by or engaged with any department or entity for which he has ministerial responsibility in connection with the Māori Development portfolio, rather than only staff employed directly in his ministerial office?

Hon Tama Potaka: I interpret the member's question as formal reports raised under the relevant organisational policy, within the time period noted. I am advised by Te Puni Kōkiri that no incidences of sexual harassment have been formally raised since 2022. Searching for information for each calendar year since 2015 to 2021 would require the Ministry to undertake a substantial manual collation exercise and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 199-6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense, of answering this question in the timeframe allowed for written parliamentary questions, is not in the public interest.
