8274 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Pacific Peoples: What projects, if any, that are specific to Pacific Peoples are being currently being supported in the Horowhenua area?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples (the Ministry) that it does not categorise projects or programmes by region. However, the following nationwide programmes are currently supported in the Horowhenua area The Tupu Aotearoa programme, which supports providers, including a Levin-based provider to deliver employment support services designed for Pacific peoples aged 15-39 years to enhance their skills, training, career advice, driver licence assistance and finding employment. The Toloa scholarships programme, which aims to encourage Pacific secondary/tertiary students nationwide to pursue learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Some past and current scholarship recipients are from the Horowhenua region. The Pacific Financial Capability programme, which enables providers, including a Levin-based provider to support Pacific families and communities to improve financial literacy, capability, and enhance their financial management knowledge skills. The Ministry also supports a range of other Pacific providers and community groups in the Horowhenua region across various domains from Pacific community events and language, health, and business support.
