8254 (2025). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: What people or organisations (if any) were consulted by the Ministerial Advisory Group for victims of retail crime prior to their recommendations on citizens' arrests; did they consult Retail NZ?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I refer the Member to the Ministerial Advisory Group for Retail Crime’s webpage www.justice.govt.nz/justice-sector-policy/ministerial-advisory-group-for-victims-of-retail-crime/, which contains details including the people and organisations it consulted with, regarding its work on amendments to arrest and defence of property provisions in the Crimes Act 1961 I am advised that Retail NZ was consulted.
