Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Economic Development: What briefings or advice, if any, has the Minister received on the fiscal implications of any redundancies, if any, in each of the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, listed by title and date?

Hon Melissa Lee: I have received advice from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise however this is subject to consideration as part of the Budget 2024 process.  I am advised that these decisions are the responsibility of the relevant chief executive. Furthermore, I am advised that some of these decisions are still to be finalised and are subject to staff consultation.
