7991 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister of Local Government: How many, if any, breaches of the Water Services (Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand) Regulations were found between 1 January 2026 and 11 March 2026?

Hon Simon Watts: The Water Services Authority—Taumata Arowai received the following notifications of breaches of the Standards between 1 January 2026 and 11 March 2026: • 76 notifications of MAV exceedances were submitted for publicly registered supplies between 1 January 2026 and 11 March 2026; • 111 notifications of MAV exceedances were submitted by laboratories in relation to publicly registered supplies between 1 January 2026 and 11 March 2026. *Note: Registered suppliers are required to submit water samples to accredited laboratories for analysis. Notifications submitted to the Authority by suppliers and laboratories are recorded separately, as laboratories often report multiple test results in relation to an exceedance event.
