7976 (2026). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: What is the impact, if any, on New Zealand's fiscal position of oil price increases resulting from conflict involving Iran?

Hon Nicola Willis: It remains too early to determine the fiscal impacts of the conflict in the Middle East. However, a prolonged conflict could impact tax revenue due to lower activity and finance costs. Wider fiscal impacts are also possible through benefits, and any flow-on effects from the conflict on the Crown’s activities and balance sheet.
