Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Māori Development: What financial modelling, if any, have the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies undertaken to measure the total cost of redundancies (voluntary or not), if any, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service?

Hon Tama Potaka: It is my expectation to be updated about significant implications with my portfolio responsibility as Minister. However, agencies’ cost-savings plans are the responsibility of the chief executive and are subject to Budget decisions which remain confidential until final decisions are approved by Cabinet.
