7955 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Conservation: How many staff made redundant at ministries, agencies and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023 were reappointed either directly (i.e., without a competitive process) or after reapplying through a competitive recruitment process?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by the Department of Conservation that if staff have been made redundant, they have left the organisation. The two staff referred to in my response to WPQ 7750 (2025) were appointed through separate recruitment processes unrelated to the management of change process that preceded their redundancy. One of those processes was a competitive recruitment process, the other was a direct appointment.
