Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What financial modelling, if any, have the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies undertaken to measure the total cost of redundancies (voluntary or not), if any, resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that the Ministry of Health has undertaken financial modelling to inform their proposals for organisational change that enables the Ministry to deliver on the Government’s priorities within its financial constraints, and to estimate potential redundancy costs that may be incurred in 2023/24. The actual cost impact will be confirmed once final decisions are made.
